When I was eight years old, I had a traumatic experience. I was staying at a hotel with my basketball team for a tournament. When I went down for breakfast that morning, I thought it would be a good idea to have waffles. As I poured the mixture, the waffle maker suddenly dropped onto my hand and closed shut. I ran to my room to tell my father. In shock and disbelief, he tried to help me. Although it scarred me physically, the emotional trauma it had was far greater. At first, I worried what the other kids would think. But after a while, I realized that others where there to welcome me and help me. I was not alone. With the help of my support network, I was able to get through my traumatic experience.
