I was 2 years old when I spilled hot grease on myself, and if I recall correctly the floor in my house also caught on fire. I sustained 3rd degree burns on a little over 50% of my body, I lost fingers, and had holes in my lungs. I was taken to the burn unit at Grady hospital and had a 5% chance of survival, along with that I also went through a treatment called "Ecmo", which is basically where they drained my body of all my blood, put it through a filtering system and put it back in my body, which is also a pretty risky procedure, which by the way, I was the FIRST to ever have the procedure done. Nevertheless a lot of people didn't think I was going to live that day, but guess what? I did! I was in the hospital for I think 2 months and had countless procedures/operations and look at me now, almost 20 years old and ALIVE! I am so thankful for everything and everyone, including my family, grady hospital, children's hospital, camp oo-u-la and the Georgia firefighters burn foundation! I AM STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL and the negative comments don't matter! Thank you for letting me share this with you all! And one last note, I wouldn't change me getting burned any day! I am happy I got burned, b/c if I hadn't I wouldn't be the woman I am today and I wouldn't know all of the amazing people I know! I AM A PROUD BURN SURVIVOR! ♡
