MISSION STATEMENT

Burned Angels Foundation is a nonprofit organization based on the principles of empowering burn survivors. Our mission is to provide emotional support to recovering burn survivors and their families. Furthermore, we aim to promote awareness through educating the public about burn prevention and immediate treatment.

Burned Angels is listed as a licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Section 501(c)(3) is the portion of the US Internal Revenue Code that allows for federal tax exemption of nonprofit organizations, specifically those that are considered public charities, private foundations or private operating foundations. It is regulated and administered by the US Department of Treasury through the Internal Revenue Service.¹ Donors to Burned Angels Foundation also receive certain tax benefits/exemptions.

Moreover, burn survivors often suffer from irreparable psychological and emotional distress. The experience of getting burned and the procedures performed as treatment are often traumatizing- and as you can imagine, even more jarring in the eyes of children. After I experienced third degree burns as a child, my parents spent a long time and a lot of effort trying to recover my sense of safety in the world. This is the case for the majority of young burn survivors as well. These feelings are usually coupled with feelings of fear and anxiety.

In the future, we hope to also work in preventing burns by expanding our website and providing warnings and tips to new parents through workshops and online forums.

As a non profit foundation, we hope to alleviate the pain of these survivors. We are searching for volunteers and sponsors. If you believe you can be of help, please click the button that says contact and send us an email. We would love to hear from you.
